About Worspress and Open source

Yes! Why? It’s a little hard to believe – but thousands of people all over the world believe software should be open and free, and enable collaboration. Just like the idea behind Wikipedia.

No. Wix is nice, but it’s built by a specific company and belongs to it. It can’t compare with an open source platform, just like some company’s encyclopedia can’t compare with Wikipedia. and another thing – when you build a Wix site – your site belongs to them. You can never transfer it to another company.

No. The code is open, not your site…

Who is WordPress for?

No. WordPress can be used by young millennials and by their grandmas. What you do need is some patience to sit down for at least 15 minutes at a time.

Generally, not. Almost anything you can think of adding to your site – Someone has already made a plugin for, for free or for a very cheap price. All you have to do is signup to the hosting company of your choice using one of the links on this hosting page. In most cases, it’ll also give you a better price.

The hosting

Yes, but I wouldn’t do that if I were you. Free hosts usually have put ads on your site, have none or bad support and bad uptime. They are also limited in memory and bandwidth, and I you’ll need more – then they’ll charge you. There are no free meals In the hosting business.

It is, but you do need a hosting account to put the WordPress in.

Yes.

Technically no. You can use WordPress on pretty much any hosting company in the world. But don’t go for the cheapest host out there. Get a hosting company with good reviews, affordable price and great support.
